Today I am sharing a delicious and quick vegan recipe. Crispy Tofu and green bean stir fry (Vegan)is an amazing Chinese inspired side dish that can be eaten as a salad too. It is made with easily available ingredients in our kitchen.We love crispy Tofu at home .I know it is an acquired taste.We love to have it with some green vegetables. A perfect dish for busy week days.Fresh garlic enhances the taste of this simple delicacy.This is a vegan dish .Green beans are cooked to perfection so that every bite is tender and juicy, but still has a crunch.
What is Veganism ?
Veganism is abstaining from use of animal products or products derived from animals.People who follow this policy are called Vegan.Well planned vegan diets are considered appropriate for all stages of life. The components of a whole foods plant-based vegan diet include legumes, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and nuts—along with little to no consumption of refined foods and animal products. Studies have shown that it has helped many people in treating Type 2 diabetes. I believe it is a personal choice .Follow it if it benefits you.

For January our host was Radha who suggested the theme Vegan recipes . I was so happy when i heard the theme. Check out her delicious Vegan Jackfruit Kofta Curry .My partner for the theme is Priya VJ who is an awesome blogger. She gave me two secret ingredients Rice flour and Sesame Oil and I gave her Lemon and Ginger. My humble recipe is Crispy tofu and green bean stir fry(Vegan). Priya whipped up delicious Vegan Peas Poha.
CRISPY TOFU AND GREEN BEAN STIR FRY (VEGAN)
Equipment
- 1 Wok
- 1 Heavy Bottom Pan
Ingredients
For Crispy Tofu
- 450 Gms Firm Tofu
- 1 Tbsp Tamari
- 1.5 Tbsp Rice Flour
- Oil for frying
For Green Beans
- 450 Gms Fresh Green Beans with trimmed ends
- 4 Pcs Minced Fresh garlic
- 1 Tsp dry red Chilli and garlic paste
- 1 Inch Fresh ginger minced
- 2 Tsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Tamari
- 2 Tsp Roasted Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl mix the tofu cubes , tamari and rice flour untill well coated. let it rest for about 5 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu until crisp and golden on all sides.
- Transfer the fried tofu on to a paper towel to drain excess oil if any.
- Blanch the green beans and transfer them to ice filled bowl. It helps to retain the color of the beans.
- Remove the beans from the cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Heat sesame oil in a pan. Add minced ginger ,garlic and red chilli garlic paste amd saute for 50 seconds .
- Now add blanched green beans and saute for a 5 minutes. Turn off the heat.
- Add tamari and mix well. Just before serving add crispy tofu and garnish with roasted sesame seeds and serve.
- Serve as a salad or with Rice or Noodles and Enjoy!!
Notes
- You can use corn starch instead of rice flour. I did not have corn starch hence used rice flour.
- Add Red chili and garlic paste enhances the taste so do not skip it.
- You can bake the tofu instead of frying it. Completely your choice.
- I have not added salt as Tamari is used here. You may add soya sauce if you do not have Tamari.
- It is a completely Vegan dish.
