Today I am sharing a very nutritious and delicious recipe. Yogurt Flatbread with spices (yeast free) is so quick to make with minimal ingredients available in our pantry. Just need 30 minutes (including resting time ) to enjoy these delicious flat breads. You have to try it to believe it.
What is a flatbread?
A flatbread is a bread made with flour, water, and salt, and then thoroughly rolled into flattened dough. Many flatbreads are unleavened, although some are leavened, such as pita bread. These can be baked in an oven, fried in hot oil, grilled , cooked on a hot pan, griddle, and eaten fresh or even packaged and frozen for later use. There are huge varieties of pancakes from around the world.

Recipe for Yogurt Flatbread with Spices (Yeast Free)
1.5 CUP Whole wheat Flour
3/4 Cup Unbleached Plain Flour
2 Tsp Ajwain / Carom Seeds
1/4 Tsp Haldi / Turmeric
1/2 Tsp Chilli Powder
1 Tsp Roasted Jeera Powder / Roasted Cumin Powder
1 Cup Yogurt
Water to knead the dough
Salt to Taste
1/4 Tsp Asafoetida / Hing
1 Tbsp Kasuri Methi
2 Tsp Sesame Seeds
Method to prepare the flatbread:
Take a wide bottom bowl. Add all the above ingredients except yogurt, oil and water. Mix all the dry ingredients well.
Add yogurt , 1 tsp oil and mix all the ingredients to get a soft non sticky dough. You can knead the dough with only yogurt or add little water as per your choice. I have added 1/4 Cup of water. Once you mix the dough cover it with a wet clean towel and allow it to rest for 15 minutes.
Divide the dough into small equal parts. Take a ball of the dough and using a rolling pin flatten it on all sides evenly. Do not use too much flour when you roll the dough
Heat a iron griddle. Spread some oil and grease it evenly. Place the rolled flatbread disc on the medium hot griddle.Press it gently all around and let is cook for a minute.Pour 1/4 tsp oil and flip the side.Cook for another minute until you see the nice golden brown crust on both sides.
Continue rolling and frying rest of the flatbreads.
Serve with Plain yogurt and pickle , raita or any curry of your choice.
