RAW MANGO RAITA / KANCHA AMBA PACHADI

It is summer in some parts of the world. Raw mangoes are in the market now.Try this delicious and quick raw mango raita to pair with pulao ,roti or parathas. We usually have delicacies with yogurt almost everyday at our place and especially in summer it is a must. Yogurt or curd improves digestion ,boosts immunity ,strengthens bones and teeth and many more benefits. Do include yogurt in your meals. Considering many benefits do check my blog for many more recipes. Mangoes are widely used in many cuisines. Sour, unripe mangoes are used in chutneys, pickles, dhals  or may be eaten raw with salt and  chili. A summer drink called aam panna comes from mangoes. Andhra aavakaaya is a pickle made from raw, unripe, pulpy, and sour mango, mixed with spices. These are just to name a few. Recipe for Raw Mango Raita / Kancha Amba Pachadi:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup Grated Raw Mango
  • 1 Cup Yogurt
  • 1/2 Tsp Mustard
  • Black Salt / Kala namak to taste
  • 1/2 Tsp Oil
  • Few Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 Tsp Roasted Cumin Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Green Chillies finely chopped

Method:

  • Wash and grate the raw mango. Mix fresh yogurt , roasted cumin powder, green chillis and black salt and keep it aside.
  • Heat a small pan. Add oil. Throw mustard seeds and once it splutters add chilli powder and curry leaves. Switch off the flame.
  • Pour the tadka on the yogurt and mango mix.
  • Serve with Roti, paratha , pulao or fried rice.

  1. I love raita & used to make many varieties of raita at home but never tried with raw mangoes, this is totally new to me. This raita looks fantastic, Preethi. And that raita is blowing my mind. Will try it out!
