I am slowly getting back in action to blog. Home renovation is underway and hence you have not seen any posts from me. Today I am sharing a very popular condiment from the Maharastrian cuisine called Hirvi Mirchi Cha Thecha (Condiment). It is very easy and can we whipped up in just 10 minutes. Yes you heard me right .I have been in love with this spicy condiment that awakens your senses, since i first had it in Mumbai years ago. I love many dishes from this cuisine. I am sharing a very simple recipe first.

What is the theme for Shhhhh Cooking?

The hostess for the theme “Maharastrian Cuisine” is Poonam who is a very talented and amazing blogger. Do check her you tube channel where she has many delicious recipes.I was so happy when she suggested this theme.Check out her Tondali Masale Bhat recipe. I am paired with Priya Iyer who is another versatile blogger and the face behind thephotowali blog . She gave two secret ingredients green chilli and peanuts and I gave her tamrind and Methi greens. Priya has beautifully whipped up Methi Zunka. My humble contribution is Hirvi Mirchi Cha Thecha (Condiment).

Main Ingredients for Hirvi Mirchi Cha Thecha (Condiment):

  • Fresh Green Chilli —I have used mildly spicy ones. You can the any variety of green chillies as per your spice tolerance.
  • Fresh Garlic—Garlic imparts a nice flavor to the dish and balances the heat.
  • Roasted Peanuts–Coarsely pounded peanuts add a nice crunch and taste to this condiment.
  • Fresh Coriander –Fresh Coriander imparts a nice aroma to the condiment.
  • Coriander Seeds–Few Corainder seeds enhance the flavor and taste .
  • Cumin Seeds—Roasted and coarsely pound cumin seeds enhances the flavor profile of this condiment.
  • Peanut Oil–You can use peanut oil or sesame oil. I always use peanut oil to make this condiment.
  • Salt to taste–I have used rock salt. You can use any regular salt .
