BELL PEPPER PEAS FRIED RICE

Today I am sharing a very quick and delicious Bell Pepper Peas fried rice recipe. Ideal for lunch , dinner and for lunch box . You can make it in a jiffy even if you have sudden guests . It work great to polish off any left over rice. Perfect recipe when you have no other veggies at home. I bet you will just love it. Even fussy eaters will enjoy this dish.

Bell Peppers:

Bell Peppers are also known as peppers or Capsicum. They come in different colors like green , red,yellow,purple,orange ,white. Peppers are native to Mexico, Central America, and northern South America. The terms bell pepper (US, Canada, Philippines), pepper or sweet pepper (UK, Ireland), and capsicum (Australia, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) are often used for any of the large bell-shaped peppers, irrespective of their color.

Ingredients for Bell Pepper Peas Fried Rice:

BELL PEPPER PEAS FRIED RICE
  • Cooked Rice: You can use freshly cooked rice or left over rice. I always prefer to use unscented Rice.
  • Bell Pepper: I have used green bell peppers. You can use any color bell pepper as per your choice. I had only green ones so used only that.
  • Onion: I have used one small onion. You can skip it if you want.
  • Green Peas:Green peas and bell pepper is a match made in heaven.I have used frozen peas here.Green peas are rich in minerals and high in nutrients.
  • Panch Phoran: Panch phoran mix gives a nice aroma to the dish. Panch Phoran is good for Digestive system
  • Salt : I have used Himalayan pink salt here. You can use normal salt too.
  • Biryani Masala: I have used Aachi brand Biryani Masala. I just love this brand.
  • Garam Masala:I have used some garam masala too. It is Aachi brand. My home made masala is over.
  • Rasam Powder: I have used home made rasam powder. Adds a nice flavor and blends well with biryani masala and garam masala.
  • Roasted Sesame seeds: Garnish with some roasted sesame seeds and add some calcium to your diet.

Recipe for Bell Pepper Peas Fried Rice:

Ingredients for Bell Pepper Peas Fried Rice:

  • 2 Cups Cooked and Cooled Rice
  • 1 Medium Onion Finely Chopped
  • 2 Large Green Bell Peppers cut into cubes
  • 1/2 Cup Green Peas
  • 1 Tsp Panch Phoran
  • 1.5 Tbsp Oil
  • Salt to Taste
  • 3/4 Tsp Biryani Masala
  • 1/2 Tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 Tsp Rasam Powder
  • 1 Tsp Roasted Sesame Seeds

Method:

  • Heat oil in a wide bottom . Add Panch Phoran.
  • Once you hear the crackling sound add finely chopped Onions.
  • As the onions turn slightly brown add green peas and bell pepper cubes.
  • Roast on medium flame and it will be done in 7-8 minutes. Add biryani masala, garam masala , rasam powder and salt.
  • Turn off the heat once the masala is nicely incorporated .
  • Mix the cooked and cooled rice . Add salt if needed.
  • Garnish with Roasted sesame seeds and onion slices and serve.
  • Serve with plain yogurt.
  • Enjoy ……………………………..

Notes:

  • You can use any variety unscented rice
  • Left over rice can be used.
  • Any variety or a mix variety of bell peppers can be used
  • Garnish with fresh coriander .I have not used as i did not have it.
  • If you don’t have biryani masala use garam masala or equal quantites of garam masala and subzi masala.
  • Don’t skip rasam powder

  3. An easy and flavorful rice dish Preethi. I think I would replace the green bell pepper with the colored ones as I’m more partial to them. Bell Pepper Peas Fried rice is good way to get the family to enjoy bell peppers.
