Raw cucumber gojju / Sautekayi Hasi Gojju

Sautekayi Hasi Gojju is a traditional dish from Karnataka.  I learnt this recipe from my Mom. This is a regular feature at my place especially  when I am late from work.

There are different way to make hasi Gojju.

2 Tsp Urad dal / Black Gram
3 Tsp Channa dal / Bengal Gram
5 Dry red chillies
6 Tsp Sesame Seeds / Til
1/2 (lemon size) Tamrind
1/3 Tsp Fenugreek/ Methi seeds
3/4 Tsp Cumin / Jeera

A pinch of Hing / Asafoetida

Few Curry Leaves

Fresh Coriander chopped


Dry Roast all the above and grind to form a thick fine paste .Add very less water to grind.

Cut a medium size cucumber into small pcs .Add the masala paste to it.

For Tadka:
Heat 1/2 tsp of oil.Add channa dal,urad dal,mustard seeds,red chilli,curry leaves and hing.

Just before serving add salt to taste and tadka.Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with hot steamed rice or chapati or phulka.
