ROSE AND ORANGE INFUSED WATER

Hello!!!!!

Infused water is the latest craze worldwide. This is the best way to drink more water and avoid frizzy drinks .This will help you to keep the unwanted sugar at bay and at the same time the body will be hydrated. There are many types of infused water.Today i am sharing an interesting recipe  of Rose and Orange infused water that is so refreshing with  the goodness of rose petals and citrus.If you don’t drink enough water, dehydration kicks in and you start feeling tired, achy, crampy, and constipated. Your skin starts to show it, and it only gets worse from there.Drinking more water helps you feel fuller and addresses the false hunger that dehydration can cause. Just that one healthier habit can lead to healthier body mass.

I am feeling unwell this weekend .This infused water really uplifted my spirits and left me feeling so refreshed and hydrated.

Recipe for Rose and Orange infused water:

3 Navel Oranges sliced

Fresh Petals of 2 Roses( Pesticide free roses)

800 ML Filtered water

1.5 Tbsp Rose water

Lots of Ice

1 Tsp dried rose petals (optional)

Method:

Fill the pitcher /jug with water. Slice the oranges .Add ice and sliced oranges.Now add rose water and stir well. Add the rose petals .Mix well. Sprinkle dried rose petals (optional).

Let it sit for sometime and then serve.

Enjoy this drink and feel refreshed!!!!!!!!!!!

Watermelon Yogurt Smoothie

Summers are in full swing these days. Healthy and hydrating coolers are always on my mind.Watermelons are found everywhere during summers.The best natural cooler.They  are tropical or subtropical plants and need temperatures higher than about 25 °C to thrive.Watermelon pulp contains carotenoids, including lycopene.The amino acid citrulline is produced in watermelon rind.I managed to get seedless watermelon here.The pulp is deep red in colour and tastes sweet too. They are used in Juices, Shakes ,Smoothies, Salads, Curry and pickles to name a few.

For the #88th #Foodiemonday #Bloghop Theme #Watermelon my contribution is this easy and yummy Watermelon yogurt Smoothie with no added sugars.

Recipe for Watermelon Yogurt Smoothie :

2 Cups of Watermelon pieces

1 Cup Greek Yogurt

4 Tbsp Honey

Ice Cubes (Optional)

Method:

Blend the watermelon pcs and 3/4 Cup yogurt till you get a lump free smooth texture. Refrigerate this mixture for about an hour. Blend this chilled mixture with balance greek yogurt and honey .Serve Chilled Watermelon Yogurt Smoothie. Adding ice is optional.

KULUKKI SHARBATH(SUMMER COOLER)

A refreshing drink from Kerala perfect for summers is Kulukki Sharbath. A soft drink made in cocktail mixing style made with Lemon and a few other ingredients which regulates the body temperature in this scorching heat.This is a very simple recipe which i have learnt from my friend’s mom.I just love the tangy and sweet taste.Dried Basil seeds / Sabja is used in this drink. Some properties of Sabja seeds are

  • Cooling 
  • Good for respiratory disorders .
  • Aids Digestion 
  • Stress relief 
  • Skin relief 
  • Weight loss 

Recipe for Kulukki Sharbath:

Ingredients:

2 Lemons squeezed (remove the seeds)

Honey (adjust as the sweetness you require)

1 Tsp Basil seeds / Sabja

2 Tsp Pineapple finely chopped

3 Mint leaves crushed (optional)

2 Cups Water

Some Ice Cubes (Optional)

Method:

Soak the dried basil seeds in a cup of water for about 10 minutes and then drain the water.

Mix all the other ingredients in a cocktail shaker .Pout this in a glass and add the basil seeds. Add a lemon slice and serve.

PS: I have skipped the ice cubes and added a some finely chopped cilantro also. You can skip it.

RAGI AMBALI (SUMMER COOLER)

 

 

Ragi Ambali is a traditional summer drink from Karnataka.It is a nutritious thirst quencher.Ragi is  gluten free source of protein which helps weight loss as well.It is also good source of calcium. Consumption of ragi enhances your resistance power.This nutritious drink reduces body heat during scorching summers.

Today I will be sharing a recipe i have learnt from my grandmom and mom.

Recipe for Ragi Ambali:

Ingredients:

1 Tbsp Ragi Flour

2 Cups Water

1 Cup Buttermilk

Salt to taste

1/2 Tsp Roasted Cumin Powder / Jeera Powder

1 Tbsp Finely Chopped Curry leaves

1 Tbsp Finely Chopped Coriander

A pinch of hing / Asafoetida

1/4 Tsp Fenugreek Seeds roasted and powdered(Optional)

Method:

Boil the water in a wide bottom pan. Add 2 Tbsp warm water  to the ragi flour and make  smooth paste without any lumps.Add this paste to the boiling water and keep stirring so that there are no lumps.Keep it on medium flame for 2 mins and switch off the stove.Allow this mixture to cool / Once it reached room temperature mix buttermilk,salt,fenugreek powder ,Jeera powder and Asafoetida. Garnish with Chopped Curry leaves and coriander leaves and serve .

Mango & Strawberry Cooler

 

I love this yummy combo of Mangoes and Strawberry in milkshakes and smoothies to beat the scorching heat in Summers. Mother Nature has been  kind enough to bless us with the perfect fruits and vegetables to beat the heat. Who doesn’t love the king of fruits and Strawberries?

Enjoying this Yummy Cooler before the Summer ends.

Receipe for Mango and Strawberry Cooler.

1 Ripe Mango

6 Strawberries

1 Cup Milk

4 Tsp Brown Sugar

6 Ice Cubes (Optional)

1Tsp Roasted Flaxseeds

Few Strawberries cut into halves for garnish

Method:

Peel the mango and cut into  small pieces. Blitz the mango, milk , flaxseeds  and 2 tsp brown sugar in a blender. Keep it aside.  Blitz the  ice cubes,strawberries, 2 tsp brown sugar in a blender.

Take a glass.First pour the mango mixture then top it up with the strawberry mixture. Garnish with some chopped strawberries ,drops of mango puree and serve chilled.

Jal Jeera Chaas / Spiced Buttermilk

 

The most common drink in many households during Summer is Buttermilk which helps to keep you hydrated.It also helps to combat acidity and has various other benefits. Its takes max 10 mins to prepare this yummy and delicious drink. I have added Jal jeera and fresh coriander to enhance the taste .Jal jeera aids in digestion.Made with cool, watered down curd, this drink is perfect to soothe the stomach. As you drink it the cool buttermilk tends to wash down the spices and calms an irritated stomach lining

As a part of 40th #Foodiemonday #bloghop theme of #Summercoolers i decided to make this  humble drink as my contribution.

Recipe for Jal Jeera Chaas /Spiced Buttermilk

Ingredients:

1 Cup  Plain Yogurt or curd

1/4 Tsp Red Chilli Flakes

3 Sprigs of Fresh Coriander leaves

1.5  Tsp Jal Jeera Powder

2 Cups Chilled water

Few Ice cubes (optional)

1/2 Tsp Roasted Jeera /Cumin

Method:

Grind the fresh coriander, chilli flakes  and Jal jeera powder to a fine paste. Add curd and blitz again so that all the ingredients are incorporated well.Add chilled water and blitz once more.

Pour them in small earthen pots ,garnish with some roasted jeera/cumin and few ice cubes and serve.

Enjoy this yummy drink to be hydrated !!!!

Chilled Filter Coffee Ice Cream Milkshake

There are many coffee lovers who love to have coffee anytime. During Summers ,the heat is so  unbearable that you can neither have hot coffee nor live without having coffee. I made this milkshake for my family and now it is a hit with them especially in summer.

So here I am sharing an easy awesome chilled filter coffee Milkshake .

Recipe:

1 Glass of chilled milk
1 .5 scoop of vanilla choco chip icecream
1/2 Glass fresh coffee decoction

Blend the above in a blender to get a nice frothy mixture.

Take a glass.Add a scoop of icecream.Pour the blended mixture into the glass.Pour some choco syrup and sprinkle some choco chips.Enjoy Chilled  Filter coffee milkshake.
