ATTA / WHEAT FLOUR HALWA

During winters we all like to eat warm dishes . I am a spice lover but once in a while I do like to treat my self with some delicious traditional sweets. Atta / Wheat Flour Halwa is one of them . Today I am sharing a absolutely lip smacking warm halwa recipe. You will definitely fall in love with it. It is very aromatic and quick to make. I make small portions to treat my family.

What is the theme for Shhhhh Cooking Secretly?

This month our hostess is Rafeeda AR who is an amazing blogger and has a wonderful collection of Malabar and Emirati recipes on her blog. I love her Lotus Milk Cake recipe. She suggested the theme “Warm Desserts”. I am paired with Sujata Roy who gave me two secret ingredients Almond and Cardamom. I gave her Ghee and Moong Dal and she whipped up Incredible Moong dal Halwa.

Ingredients for Atta / Wheat Flour Halwa:

  • Whole Wheat Flour: I have used Pillsbury atta or wheat flour. You can use any brand atta you prefer.
  • Coconut Sugar: I have used coconut Sugar. You can replace it with raw sugar or brown sugar. I don’t use refined sugar.
  • Ghee:Do not skip ghee. It gives a nice aroma and taste to the dish.
  • Desiccated Coconut:Coconut adds a nice texture to the halwa and also makes it tastier. You can skip it if you don’t like coconut.
  • Chopped Almonds:Add dry fruits of your choice. I love Roasted almonds and added them.
  • Cardamom Powder: No halwa is complete without cardamom powder. Gives a nice aroma.

I love the fact that there is no diary in this halwa and still it looks absolutely mouthwatering… especially the beautiful color of the halwa…

  3. Its been ages since I’ve made wheat halwa. Your preparation looks so delish and also like that you’ve used coconut sugar. Adds a subtle coconut flavour. Must make it soon.

  4. Its been ages since I made atta ka halwa. This yum bowl of halwa is reminding me of the fact that I am starving. Think I should whip some atta halwa for myself.
