Today Preethi’s Cuisine turns 5. An emotional moment for me to pen my thoughts about the wonderful journey so far. May 1 2015 I started to blog on the insistence of my family. I basically started this blog to divert myself from office stress and also make a collection of recipes that I love. You will find various unique recipes on my blog that is easy and delicious. I share my recipes only when i am confident of the whole process to cooking it. My family encourages me to try and cook new dishes. Most of my motivation comes from my beloved readers .My heartfelt thanks to each and everyone who has always followed and supported my journey via this blog.
I learnt a lot and am still learning from many bloggers. Some have become my best buddies. I am not in the rat race as i am just blogging for pure hobby. I would like to improve my blog as i progress. My office work and managing home without any domestic help keep me on my toes. I try to post atleast one recipe every week. To celebrate the occasion i made this quick and delicious bread burfi with minimal ingredients at home.
Recipe for Bread Burfi:
Ingredients:
Bread crumbs of 7 Slices of bread
750 Ml Milk + 2 Tbsp Milk
1/4 Tsp Saffron
2 Tbsp Ghee
3/4 Tin Condensed Milk
2 Tsp Dry fruits Powder( I had a mix of dry fruits, seeds and nuts.Powdered them)
1/4 Tsp Cardamom Powder
Method:
Soak saffron in 2 Tbsp Milk for about 15 Mins
Take a wide bottom pan. Add ghee.
Pulse the 7 slices of bread to get fresh bread crumbs
Once the ghee melts add milk and allow it to boil.
Add bread crumbs to the boiling milk , dry fruits powder , condensed milk and mix well. Mixture starts to thicken and ghee starts to leave the sides.
Lastly add saffron soaked milk and cardamom powder and mix well.
Grease a plate. Transfer this mixture on to the greased plate and pat it to spread it equally.
Refrigerate for about 2-3 hrs until it is nicely set.
Cut into desired shape and serve with vanilla ice cream.
First of all congratulations on your 5th blog anniversary Preethi. Bread Burfi is definitely a unique recipe to celebrate the big day. Have never heard of bread burfi but it looks very inviting. No one would know its made from bread if you didn’t mention it.
