AMLA SOUP / GOOSEBERRY SOUP

- 5 Nos Gooseberry / Amla Cut into Pieces
- 1 Tsp Jeera / Cumin
- 10 Nos Black Pepper Corns
- 1/2 Tbsp Coriander Seeds
- 1 Inch Fresh Ginger finely chopped
- 1/4 Tsp Asafoetida / Hing
- 1 Tsp Oil
- 1/2 Tsp Rasam Powder
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 Cup Finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
- 2.5 Cups Water
Wash and pat dry the gooseberries.Cut them into smal pieces.
Heat oil in a pan . Roast jeera , coriander seeds ,asafoetida and pepper corns until slightly fragrant.
Now blend roasted jeera ,pepper corns ,asafoetida ,coriander seeds , chopped ginger and chopped gooseberries.
Now transfer this paste to a pot. Add water ,salt,turmeric and rasam powder and mix well
Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
Garnish with fresh coriander and serve.
You may strain if you wish too. I did not strain the mixture as we like it that way.

- You can substitute star gooseberries in case you can't find normal gooseberries.
- I have used home made rasam powder to give some aroma and thickness to the soup.
- You can add green chilli if you want it spicy. I have not added.
- Strain the soup before serving if you wish too. I did not strain it.
