HUNASE HANNU PANAKA (SUMMER COOLER)

Welcome back to my blog. It is summer time here and it so hot and humid. We have to stay hydrated during this time to beat the heat. There are many traditional summer cooler recipes which I have consumed while growing up. Today I am sharing a very Simple and quick summer cooler recipe called Hunase Hannu Panaka .This is mostly made on Ram Navami and Narasimha Jayanthi. It is one of the most refreshing drink. This drink makes me nostalgic as I have a lot of memories associated with Summer Holidays.

What is Panaka?

A quintessential summer cooler from Southern India. This is so refreshing and easy to make. Jaggery in its purest form is the main ingredient of this drink. Some make it with lemon juice and some with tamrind .Panakam was given as oral rehydration solution in olden days when the weather was hot and humid. We would always be excited when mom used to make it at home.It is usually served in earthern ware . It can be served chilled or at room temperature. Tastes equally good.
